One pair of pointe shoes -- $78.40
A single pair of pointe shoes can cost our dancers upwards of $78 dollars; each female dancer can go through up to 8 pairs during CelloPointe rehearsals and performances each season.
Gut Strings -- $86.61
Did you know that cellist Peter Wiley uses gut strings on his cello for their superb quality? The C string on Peter's cello cost $86.61, and he changes them about twice a year.
Taxi ride for cellist through Manhattan -- $14.03
Hauling a cello through the streets of Manhattan is a hassle, and forget about trusting these delicate instruments in crowded subways during rush hour. To take a taxi from one of our rehearsal venues, DANY studios, to our performance venue at Manhattan Movement and Arts Center costs on average $14.
One hour of rehearsal -- $20
Our rehearsals require special studio spaces, with Marley and sprung floors for the dancers. The average cost to rent rehearsal space in New York is $20 per hour. For each show, we will clock around 50 hours of rehearsal!
Ballet class for one dancer -- $19
Dancers have to pay to stay in shape throughout the season. The normal cost of a single ballet class in New York City, taken by our dancers everyday, is $19.
One costume -- $75
Our team works hard to put the best product in front of our audience, and that includes designing and making visually exciting costumes. On average, the cost of hiring a costume designer plus fees for materials is about $75 per dancer. In one CelloPointe show, we will use upwards of 15 costumes.
Sponsor an artist -- $500
A large portion of our budget goes to artist fees. Pick your favorite CelloPointe artist, or simply aid in the overall cost to help us show our appreciation to these talented and hardworking musicians, dancers, and choreographers.
Here at CelloPointe, your support is invaluable to us and goes a long ways towards covering production costs. We appreciate all contributions, of any size. Below are some suggested amounts to volunteer, and what that amount would mean for CelloPointe. All donations are tax-deductible.
